mc hammer get a new reality show

MC Hammer is getting on the washed-up musician band wagon and is following in the footsteps of Bret Michaels, Flavor Flav and countless others by getting his own reality TV series. A&E network and 3 Ball productions, who produced The Biggest Loser and Beauty and the Geek, has snagged the late 80’s rapper-dancer to create Hammertime, ordering 11 half-hour episodes of the show to be produced.

Hammertime, will follow the life of MC Hammer and his family, his wife Stephanie and their six kids, who live in Tracy, California.

J.D. Roth, the executive producer of the new show says the show will be similar to an unscripted version of The Cosby Show.

“Here’s a dad with five kids, married to the same woman for more than 23 years, living in the same place where he grew up and going to church every Sunday,” he said. “He’s had his ups and downs, and it’s what makes him such a character you root for.”

MC Hammer, became famous in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s with his cool moves and trademark hammer pants. Although he earned a fortune, he eventually lost it all and became a minsister ten years ago. MC Hammer now runs a dance website, is a television show host and CEO, and still performs occasionally at concerts and other functions.

MC Hammer is not new to reality TV. He has already been a part of two series for VH-1 I Married… MC Hammer and The Surreal Life.
