Flava Flav to grace Broadway with musicalized Flava of Love

Flava the Musical?

The word on Boardway is that a veritable bidding war is going on for the rights to musicalize reality TV's one time sensation "Flava of Love." Both Boardway powerhouses, the Netherlanders and Shownfelds are said to be interested and neither wants to let the other have a crack at what both acknowledge would be a goldmine.

Sources close to the "rapper with a tooth full of gold" note that Flava is eager to get his "Boardway wings" and has already vowed to forego sushi entirely during the run so as not to fall victim to the dastardly Piven Poison Effect that threatened the success of another celeb-filled production early in the Broadway season.

No word yet if Bridget Nelson will reprise her role as the love interest...but insiders secretly admit they have heard her singing scales and practicing the cha-cha.

what new york back on vh1 hell no

By Alex Weprin -- Broadcasting & Cable, 3/27/2009 12:15:00 PM MT

VH1 has ordered another unscripted series featuring Tiffany “New York” Pollard.

The new series, New York Goes To Work, will feature the perennial VH1 star tackling a new job each week, as voted in by fans in a text message poll. If she impresses her employers, Pollard will receive a $5,000 bonus, if she quits or gets fired, she gets nothing. Viewers will be able to vote on three choices each week, which could include working in a mortuary, a sewer plant or a fast food joint.

Pollard made her debut on VH1 as a contestant on Flavor of Love, the dating show featuring rapper Flavor Flav, in 2006. That appearance led to two spinoff series, I Love New York and New York Goes to Hollywood.

Flavor Flav celebrated his 50th birthday

By Remmie Fresh

Rapper/television star Flavor Flav celebrated his 50th birthday last night (March 15) at BB King's nightclub in New York City with a concert with Public Enemy.

The rapper was joined by Ice-T and Coco, boxing trainer/commentator Emmanuelle Stewart, Grand Master Melle Mel and others like his wife Liz.

As a special request, Ice-T performed "Six In The Morning" as Flavor Flav played the drums.

Chuck D, the lead rapper in Public Enemy, played hype man, a role usually reserved for Flavor.

Flavor Flav said to fellow rapper Ice T, "Thank you for not beating me the f**k up for when I crashed your Ferrari."

Ice-T revealed the incident happened in 1987 and Flav stated that he still had the tail light from the expensive vehicle.

Flavor Flav thanked a bevy of rappers, friends and family as a huge cake was presented on stage.

Public Enemy performed tracks from their album It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back and other hits such as "Welcome To The Terrordome."

AllHipHop.com streamed the event live last night.

Flavor Flav's birthday is today (March 16).
